Preschool Stories: Storytime for 3s, 4s, and 5s
Designed for ages 3-5, this series is filled with rollicking stories, songs, felt boards and other visual methods of storytelling! The goal of this series is to increase both your child's enjoyment of reading and attention span. Come enjoy longer stories and take home thematic/book related activites to extend the storytime experience!

Teen Talks: Anatomy of a Protest Workshop with Wee the People
During the Anatomy of a Protest workshop, teens will test their knowledge during a game challenging them to match moments from famous social movements to poster board signs highlighting the six basic stages of social change. Led by Francie Latour, racial justice educator, facilitator, children's book author and co-founder of Wee the People. Registration is required.
Wee the People is a Boston-based social justice project that aims to inspire youth to "notice injustice and discover the power of their own voices."
This program is part of the Reclaiming Your Story grant, graciously funded by the Library Services & Technology Act (LSTA) Direct Grant Program.

Kids' Author Visit
Calling all cosmic chefs! Alec Carvlin will be reading his debut picture book, How to Bake a Universe at the Reading Public Library! Kids ages 3-8 will love decorating their own cosmic sunglasses, hearing the book read aloud by the author, and asking questions about the fun and funky science at the end.
Book sales available courtesy of Whitelam Books. Free tickets will be available on the day of the event starting at 1:00 pm.

Plant Lab: Garden Prep and Spring Planting
Were you a Plant Ambassador last summer? Have you got a green thumb? Do you want to give gardening a try? Help us start our spring crop in the Plant Lab on the Patio! We'll plant seedlings, talk about best planting practices, and bring home a bit of the garden with you! We may end early if everything gets planted speedy quick! After helping to get the garden going this season, come back to the library any time, show us your Plant Ambassador Badge and go outside to water the plants or read them a story!
Remember, gardening is messy! Please wear clothing you won't mind getting dirty and be prepared to get your hands dirty!
Please only register gardeners grades 4-6 for this program, grownups are welcome to stay and help out or drop off their young gardeners.

French for Kids
Bonjour! Kids in grades 1-4 can learn French in a 4-week class led by students in the RMHS French Club! Each week will feature new vocabulary, bilingual activities and more.

Bird Meetup With Dave Williams!
You've learned all about birds, but do you want to learn more about birds? And share some of your knowledge too? You’re in duck luck! Novice birders and experts alike are welcome to attend RPL’s casual Bird Meetups with Dave Williams every other month. These will be informal gatherings where bird-loving folk can gather to learn from each other and share their knowledge.

Friends of the Reading Public Library Meeting
The Friends of the Reading Library is a non-profit charitable organization that enhances the library’s programs and services. The Friends’ mission is to hold annual fundraisers in order to sponsor events and programs not funded by the town. Our monthly meetings are held at the library, the 4th Monday of the month from 7-9. We meet from September through May with the exception of December. Please join us if you are interested in supporting our wonderful library and meeting new people.

Teens in grades 6-12 will participate in creative writing exercises and hands on activities.
Teens can also earn service hours by collaborating with the children's writing group, The Scribble Society!
Meetings are held every other Wednesday at 3:30pm.

Therapeutic Program for Adults: Nature Connection
Join the Nature Connection for therapeutic and educational nature-based programs. Participants will engage with plants, small animals, natural materials, and expressive arts. Each month, we'll explore natural elements that tie to the season and what is happening in the natural cycle outdoors.
This series of programs is designed for adults ages 22 with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). They are not respite programs; caregivers are required to attend.
Please register for each session separately. The Nature Connection will visit on the 4th Thursday of the month, February through May 2022.

Reading Rockets: A Parent & Child Book Discussion for Grades 5-6
This discussion group is designed for students in grades 5 & 6 and their caregiver. Together we'll talk about characters, setting, language, art and much more. WHO is your favorite (or least favorite) character? WHY did they make the choices they did? WHAT would you do if you were in the same situation? HOW did the author(s) present the story and conflict?
Sign up below with information about both the student(s) and the caregiver(s) who will attend. When you register, you are signing up for the entire school year, 8 discussion dates.
