Animal Control Appeals Committee
The Animal Control Appeals Committees shall hold public hearings and make decisions on any vicious dog declaration under Section 8.8.5 of the General Bylaws.

Appointment Committee - Bylaw
The Bylaw Committee Appointment Committee consists of three members: the Moderator, the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen and the Chairman of the Bylaw Committee. The purpose of the Committee is to appoint members of the Bylaw Committee.

Appointment Committee - Finance Committee
The Finance Committee Appointment Committee consists of three members: the Moderator, the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen and the Chairman of the Finance Committee. The purpose of the Committee is to appoint members of the Finance Committee.

Appointment Committee – Permanent Building Committee
Permanent and Temporary Members of the Permanent Building Committee shall be appointed by an Appointment Committee consisting of the Chair of the Select Board, the Chair of the School Committee and the Town Moderator.

Audit Committee
The Audit Committee shall recommend to the Town Manager the firm of independent auditors that is to audit and report on the financial statements issued by the Town.

Board of Assessors
The Board of Assessors may appoint property appraisers and shall have all the powers and duties given to Boards of Assessors by the Law of the Commonwealth not inconsistent with this Charter.

Board of Cemetery Trustees
The Board of Cemetery Trustees are responsible for the preservation, care, improvement and embellishment of the Town's cemeteries and burial lots.

Board of Health
The mission of the Reading Board of Health is to protect and promote the health and well-being of the citizens of Reading and the quality of the environment.

Board of Library Trustees
The Board of Library Trustees shall have control over the selection of Library materials and shall have custody and management of the Library and of all property of the Town related thereto, except that the Town Manager shall have responsibility for the maintenance of the Library building and grounds.

Bylaw Committee
The Bylaw Committee shall report to Town Meeting on all proposed changes to the bylaw which are included on the warrant for Town Meeting. Such report shall be prepared in writing and included in the Finance Committee report as specified in Section 3.3.2.2 of this bylaw.

Celebration Trust Committee
The celebration trust committee's mission is to authorize the expenditure of trust funds for public celebration and for the preservation of recorded history.

Climate Advisory Committee
The Reading Climate Advisory Committee is an official town advisory committee, comprised of concerned citizen volunteers seeking to achieve environmental, economic and societal sustainability by raising public awareness and influencing the community, including its government, to reduce energy use and foster environmental stewardship in a cost-effective manner.

Management of all trust funds given or bequeathed for the benefit of the Town or its inhabitants.

Community Planning & Development Commission (CPDC)
CPDC shall make studies and prepare plans concerning the resources, developmental potential, and needs of the Town.

The Conservation Commission shall have all the powers and duties given to Conservation Commissions by the General Laws, by the Charter, by Bylaw, or by Town Meeting vote.

Historic District Commission
The purpose of the Historic District Commission is to administer the Local Historic District. The District was created to preserve and protect the distinctive characteristics and architecture of the Historic District area, to maintain and improve the settings of the buildings within the District, and to encourage building design that is compatible with the buildings existing in the District, so as to maintain the historic character of the area.

The purpose of the Reading Historical Commission is to identify and record historic assets of the Town and to develop and implement a program for their preservation.

Housing Authority
The Reading Housing Authority is a public agency established under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 121B. Its primary mission is to provide decent, safe and sanitary housing opportunities, thereby improving the quality of life for families, those with disabilities and the elderly of low income.

Moderator
The Moderator is an ex officio representative Town Meeting Member and shall preside and regulate the proceedings at all sessions of the Town Meeting. He shall have all of the powers and duties given to Moderators under the Constitution and General Laws of the Commonwealth, and such additional powers and duties as may be authorized by the Charter, by Bylaw or by other Town Meeting vote.

Mystic Valley Elder Services
A 33-person board of directors ensure that Mystic Valley Elder Services remain responsive to the shifting needs of our community. Board members represent one of the eight cities and towns in Mystic Valley Elder Services' community. The advisory council consists of legislators, health and elder care experts, and community leaders who lend their time and expertise when called upon by the board or staff.

Parking Advisory & Recommendation Committee
The mission of the Parking Advisory and Recommendation Committee (PARC) is to clarify and simplify Reading’s downtown parking system from a user perspective and enforcement standpoint. A consultant will be hired to provide technical assistance and expertise in parking management. The recommendations will be developed in concert with an extensive public process.

Rules Committee
There shall be a Rules Committee, chaired by the Town Moderator who shall be a non-voting member, consisting of the Precinct Chair, which shall review all aspects of the operation of Town Meeting, and make an Annual Report in writing to Town Meeting setting forth its findings, recommendations and proposals for rules governing the conduct of Town Meeting.

We will lead and manage our school community to reflect the values and culture of the Reading Community, and guide and support our students to develop the appropriate skills, strategies, creativity and knowledge necessary to be productive informed independent citizens in a global society.

Select Board
The Select Board is composed of five members who are elected for overlapping three-year terms. As specified in the Reading Home Rule Charter they are the Chief Elected Officers of the Town. The Select Board appoints a Town Manager who is responsible for the daily management of the Town, whose powers are specified in the Reading Home Rule Charter. The Select Board also appoints the Town Accountant and Town Counsel.

Symonds Way Exploratory Committee
This ad hoc Committee, created by the Select Board, will analyze the Town-Owned parcel on Symonds Way (formerly known as/often referred to as the "Zanni Parcel") and its possible uses.

Town Forest Committee
The Town Forest Committee's primary function is to oversee the care, custody and management of the Reading Town Forest.

Trails Committee
The mission of the Reading Trail Committee is to plan, develop, and maintain present and future trails in the Town of Reading. The goal is for the Town to create and maintain a connected, well-coordinated system of trails to serve the residents of the community.

Veterans Memorial Trust Fund Committee
The Veteran Memorial Trust Fund Committee consists of the Custodian of Soldier's and Sailors Graves, a member of the Board of Cemetery Trustees and the Chairman of the Trust Fund Commissioners who meet once per year to request funding from the Trust Fund Commissioners for flowers for the Veteran's graves.
