An informational alert was sent to town residents and businesses through the CodeRED system earlier today. The text of that message is below:
This is an informational message from the Town of Reading. Please be advised that with the forecast of high temperatures and humidity over the next few days, the risk of heat related illnesses is high - especially for young children and the elderly. It is very important to stay cool and drink plenty of fluids and to check on your elderly neighbors.
We would like to remind you that the Senior Center at 49 Pleasant Street and the Public Library at 64 Middlesex Avenue are safe and cool places to visit. The Senior Center is open Monday - Friday from 8:30am to 4pm. The Public Library is open Monday through Wednesday 9am to 9pm, Thursday from 1pm to 9pm, and Friday and Saturday from 9am to 5pm.
