The townwide trail permit is a blanket permit issued by the Reading Conservation Commission that permits certain minor trail projects. The Trails Committee or others may do minor trail maintenance and repair under this permit without notice to the Conservation Commission. Other, more substantial projects, can be done under this permit with notice to the Commission, but without a formal filing. Major projects require a full Notice of Intent filing to the Conservation Commission. Please contact Conservation Administrator Chuck Tirone by email or by calling 781-942-6616 with any questions.
It is always a good idea to notify Conservation prior to undertaking a trail project - even if you believe it is covered under the townwide trails permit.
