Door-to-Door Solicitor Registration
Article 8.9.9 of the Town of Reading's General Bylaws requires door-to-door solicitors to register their identity, vehicle and activites with the Reading Police Department. You may read the full text of the bylaw by clicking here and navigation to Article 8.9.9. Violations may result in up to a $300 fine to the individual solicitor.
Registering with the Town
In order to register with the Town, downloand and complete the form below in its entirety (including tax id#'s, director names, etc.) and submit it to the Officer-In-Charge at the police station in an envelope marked to the attention of "Officer Martel." At the time of your submission, the Officer-In-Charge will enter your biographical information into our records database and take a digital photo, which will become your registration photo. All solicitors are required to don a town-issued ID card. These cards are issued upon approval of your registration form, which may take 7 to 10 days.
