Volunteers Needed to Serve on the Conservation Commission
The Reading Conservation Commission is seeking to fill two Full Membership and two Associate vacancies.
The Commission strives to ensure that projects which could disturb the land within the buffer zone of a wetland, stream, river or vernal pool complies with restrictions set forth in state and local laws and regulations. The Commission also manages the Town’s Conservation Lands and natural resources. The Commission holds public meetings twice a month and also visits project sites twice a month.
Interested parties are encouraged to attend a Conservation meeting or contact the Conservation Administrator to learn more about the Commission’s work and duties. Expertise in or knowledge of storm water management, landscape architecture or design, geology, are desired but not required. Engineers with experience in water resources, Teachers with a science background and Gardeners knowledgeable about plants are all good candidates.
