MAPC Subregional Priority Mapping Project
The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) will be working with Reading on priority mapping project for the North Suburban Planning Council (NSPC) subregion. This project will establish priority preservation areas and priority development areas within each community which will be integrated on a regional level in collaboration with the other NSPC communities. This project will not only create community specific dialogue on priority preservation and development areas, but it will open the line of communication to discuss land use issues across municipal borders. Town staffs have met with MAPC and have come up with a preliminary list of priority preservation and development areas. The preliminary maps were presented to the Board of Selectmen and Community Planning and Development Commission (CPDC) on June 19, 2012. Comments from staff
and Board members will be reviewed and the maps revised accordingly. Another hearing will be held in August 2012 - details of that meeting are still in progress.
